Our first bridal shower of the year scheduled to take place in the BDP farm was this past Saturday! We checked the forecast the day before and it was calling for rain, so we made the call to move the shower inside to the just as lovely, BDP Canteen.

Follow along to see the set up and magical day!

We moved the tables in The Canteen side by side and for the linens, we chose a shantung marmalade runner and taupe napkins, which we sourced from BBJ Linens.

Our beautiful rentals for the celebration came from our neighbor and friend Kate at Chicago Vintage Weddings

We love to provide the floral for our showers and private events hosted at BDP, and it's included in the per person price. Same with the rentals! We are growing flowers in the farm, so we don't have to go far for foraging. Beautiful red and pink rose bushes grow near the wooden fence, and they bloom every year when spring meets summer. Seeing the flowers show up two weeks ago was a nice reminder.

The idea behind hosting an event in our space, is to create something beautiful that the host and guests can show up to, with the only job on their end being to have a good time! What's not to love?

Onto the food! We have separate menus for farm lunches and dinners, and these ladies chose the high tea in the garden menu. Assorted tea sandwiches, tarragon chicken salad on endive petals, garden greens, avocado toast, scones, fresh fruit, lemon cookies, pie jars and tarts, were some of the items on their delicious spread. We always try to incorporate the organic crops we are growing and can harvest in the month of our farm events. In June, this was mainly greens and herbs.

As for drinks, the host chose the BDP Bubbly Bar and our Watermelon Berry Fiz Cocktail from our summer drink list. The mint came from the BDP farm. The shower packages come with an assortment of black + herbal teas, hot tea, iced tea, punch and sparkling water.

Christen, our director of weddings + events is a wonderful calligrapher. She's been with us seven years, and her lettering skills are great to have, in addition to everything else she does around BDP. Sarah, our marketing coordinator, likes to dabble in graphic design, and with them on our team, we are able to offer complimentary chalkboard + paper signage for our events and weddings.

We were super happy with the way our first shower of the season turned out, and can't wait for more. We have three this week and the forecast looks great. Stay tuned for more posts!

And as if we weren't already feeling good about our successful weekend of weddings and a shower, the host dropped us this nice note this morning :)

Despite the weather and our having to move indoors, the event was great. Food, beverages, service, décor—loved it all and I think Mattie did, too (most importantly!).
