Big Delicious Planet is one of the most sought after Chicago wedding caterers for couples who want delicious, vibrant food with sustainability in mind. Our highly skilled and meticulous Wedding Team produces extraordinary and memorable weddings for straight and LGBTQ couples. When you choose BDP, you can count on receiving top-notch planning, creative menus and impeccable service.

Wedding Production

Working with a wedding caterer is a partnership from the time you contact us and have a tasting until your wedding reception comes to an end. We apply our experience from hundreds of weddings to ensure that all of the personal elements you envision for your big day happen seamlessly. BDP Wedding Producers have worked at venues all across the city, and we understand how to make every detail come together. We work with vendors to ensure that all planned elements are carried out in your timeline, and that the floor plan and menu are executed to perfection. On the day of wedding, our Wedding Producer will be on-site from beginning of set-up until the dance party kicks off.

Food + Drink

Once you've tasted our flavorful, vibrant food you'll understand why years later our wedding couples tell us people are still raving about how amazing the food was at their wedding. With our own organic urban farm just steps from our kitchen you'll be proud to have a sustainably focused menu that includes produce that was harvested hours before your wedding
reception. Each and every menu we create is as unique as each couple we work with. BDP is fully licensed and can source local and sustainable wine, beer and spirits. We are well versed in vegan, gluten-free, and global cuisine.

Vendor Coordination + Styling

We’re proud to work closely with some of Chicago’s coolest, creative, sustainably focused vendors. We are happy to connect you with a florist sourcing locally, a photographer, or a vintage rental company. We’re a member of the Green Wedding Alliance, a group of about 40 independent, environmentally conscious local vendors. Need a little guidance? Whether you’re dreaming of a clean, contemporary or a boho-vintage look, we’re happy to assist in choosing a color scheme, designing a tablescape, styling all of your props (and more) to realize the wedding of your dreams.

We went to two tastings for our wedding day and we completely lucked out with BDP. The food at the tasting was amazing. When produced in large quantities for the wedding, they didn’t skip a beat - the food was equally tasty and there was SOOOO much! All our family and friends truly enjoyed their meals and commented on how they had more than enough to eat. Staff were professional, super friendly, and extremely knowledgeable and were very helpful throughout the planning process.

We guarantee that if you choose BDP for your big day or any event, you won’t be disappointed.

Used BDP for our wedding at Salvage One and couldn’t be more pleased with their services! The food was UNBELIEVABLE. Multiple guests tracked my husband and me down during the reception to rave about the food - the best they had ever had at a wedding! To boot, they are always willing to meet in person and/or will respond quickly to Emails and phone calls. Prior to going with BDP, we had multiple tastings with other groups, and it was no competition! Plus, they grow a good portion of their veggies in their urban garden on the property, which you can tour during your tasting. Look no further than BDP for your wedding!

Working with BPD on our wedding party was a pleasure from beginning to end. Christen took care of us initially, then Grace closer to the wedding, and they were just great. They were very receptive to our wishes and helped us organize the perfect evening. I don’t live in town, so we did a lot of planning over email, but this was never an issue: communication was seamless. Our menu had to accommodate several dietary restrictions - not a problem. Of course the food was delicious and absolutely met our (high!) expectations. And totally wowed our guests! We had a wedding cake made but did not serve it as we had planned other kinds of desserts. However my husband and I could not resist and ended up eating almost all of it by ourselves: best wedding cake we ever had! Don’t hesitate and choose BPD for your special event: you will not be disappointed!

Working with BDP was a dream. They were professional, creative, and deeply kind; they captured the vision for our day perfectly! The food was incredible and every detail was taken care of, as the bride, I did not worry once about how the catering aspect of the day was going to go. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

We used Big Delicious Planet Catering for our May wedding at Salvage One, and we couldn’t be happier. Everyone we worked with on the BDP team was amazing (Grace for our tasting and contract, and Chelsey for our event coordination) - they are responsive, professional, and accommodating, and fun to work with, and that extends to their employees who provided table service and bartending services the night of. Guests raved about the food and cocktails, and we continue to get compliments on the food and details of the presentation (e.g., fresh honey and little hot sauce bottles for our fried chicken). We’re still talking about the mini desserts table, the chocolate bark is out of this world. On top of the delicious food, they also coordinated seamlessly with our vendors, allowed for us to provide our own alcohol (which is a huge money saver), and provided custom signage and menus at no extra charge. BDP made things incredibly easy for us the entire way. And it’s a sustainable, women-owned business, with many of their ingredients coming directly from their urban farm. What more could you ask for? We would highly recommend BDP to any bride and groom looking for delicious food and an amazing catering experience for their big day.

I am a wedding photographer and I’ve eaten well over +200 weddings’ dinners in my career thus far and I’ve never had a meal so fresh and amazing. Salmon, butternut squash ravioli, chicken thighs and potatoes. Wowza! Insanely good. Going on my vendor rec list for SURE! Also, very friendly servers!

There is an on-site garden where they grow their own herbs, fruits and vegetables, and the cats help to scare away unwanted critters. They are also woman owned. Awesome!

We were fortunate enough to work with Grace while planning our wedding. She was great! organized, efficient, fun, and totally got my vision. She seemed just as excited as I did about our ideas and details. I appreciated that! Grace also responded to all my emails promptly and patiently.

I am a pastry chef by trade, so I was very passionate about having great food and dessert! BDP crushed it! Our cocktail- style buffet was beautifully displayed and delicious. Everyone, including my chef guests, loved the food. All the signage was a unique element also done by BDP. Everyone we encountered from the Chefs, cooks, bartenders, and servers seemed happy to be a part of our day! It meant a lot. Maybe, I’m a little biased, but I thought our wedding was beautiful! Big Delicious Planet played a huge roll in that!

I wanted to write and tell you how unreal and amazing you all were over my wedding weekend. I can’t even express how delicious and perfect the food, service, attention to detail, was for our wedding. It was absolute perfection. From the farm dinner to the grand event, you guys pulled out all the stops and did the best wedding I have ever been to. (I might be bias, but I heard from folks and they said it was. The food was a big part of that.) You were all so easy to work with and took all the curve balls I threw your way. Thank you again for making our wedding perfect and exactly what we wanted. And now I am going to try and recreate the meal tonight in our new house!
